                               ORDINANCE NO. 9749

                AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE 9585, AS AMENDED
		ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE REVENUE FOR THE
		FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 1991 AND ENDING
		JUNE 30, 1992 AND APPROPRIATING SAME TO THE PAYMENT
		OF EXPENSES OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT, FIXING THE
		RATE OF TAXATION ON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY IN THE CITY,
		AND THE TIME TAXES AND PRIVILEGES ARE DUE, HOW
		THEY SHALL BE PAID, WHEN THEY SHALL BECOME DELINQUENT
		AND PROVIDE FOR INTEREST AND PENALTY ON DELINQUENT
		TAXES AND PRIVILEGES", SO AS TO PROVIDE CERTAIN
		CHANGE IN THE ESTIMATED REVENUES AND APPROPRIATIONS
		SET OUT IN SECTION 5, AS MORE PARTICULARLY DESCRIBED
		HEREIN.


	  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA,

TENNESSEE,         
	 
	  Section 1.  That Ordinance 9585, the budget ordinance, entitled as

set forth above, be and the same is hereby amended as provided 
hereinafter.

	  Section 2.  That section 5 of said ordinance be and is hereby amended

as hereinafter set out:

          Section 3.  That this ordinance shall be operative as 
distinguished

from its effective date on and after July 1, 1991.

   	  Section 4.  That if any section, sentence, word or figure 
contained

in this ordinance should be declared invalid by a final decree of a 
court of

competent jurisdiction such holding shall not affect the remaining 
sections,

sentences, words or figures contained in this ordinance, but the same 
shall

remain in full force and effect.

	  Section 5.  That this ordinance shall take effect immediately, the

public health, welfare and safety requiring same.
